Nudo de los Pastos (also: Macizo de Huaca , German  knot (mountain) of the willows, massif of Huaca ) is a mountain group of South America on the border between Colombia and Ecuador . The associated mountain ranges extend to the Ecuadorian province of Carchi and the Colombian department de Nariño . The mountain region forms an orographic complex at the fork and in the transition of the mountain ranges of the Cordillera Occidental and the Central Cordillera .

Although there is no precise definition of the outline of the Nudo de los Pastos , the southern border is generally equated with the Río Chota and Río Apaqui and the eastern border with the rivers Río Cuasmal and Río Obispo up to the highlands of Huaca and in the extent to Hoz de Minamá ("Sickle of Minamá") in the Cordillera Occidental and up to Macizo Colombiano in the Central Cordillera, where the Cordillera Oriental is created.

In the high mountains of the Cordillera Occidental, the highest peaks are the volcanoes of Chile (4,718 m), Cumbal (4,764 m) and Azufral (4,070 m). The Hoz de Minamá is a deep depression in this high mountain landscape in which the Río Patía runs and the Cordillera Occidental breaks through on its way to the Pacific coast .

The area in the Central Cordillera includes the Altiplano de Túquerres e Ipiales , the Valle de Atriz , the Galeras volcanoes (4,276 m) and the Doña Juana (4,250 m) volcano , the city of San Juan de Pasto with the Macizo de Pasto ( ) and Lake Laguna de la Cocha , one of the largest lakes in Colombia (40 km², 2760 m altitude ).
