Nueva Valencia is a municipality in the Guimaras province of the Philippines . It has 39,810 inhabitants (August 1, 2015 census). Taklong Island National Marine Reserve , established in 1990 , is located in the municipality's waters in the Panay Gulf .
In August 2006 an oil spill occurred after the ship MT Solar 1 sank a few kilometers offshore.
