Nucleotidyltransferases are enzymes that catalyze the transfer of nucleotides to target structures, for example a growing nucleic acid chain . Typical representatives of this group are DNA polymerases or reverse transcriptases . The nucleotidyl transferases are central and essential for the replication of the genome of living beings and viruses. Some of the enzymes also perform repair tasks.
