history

From the 17th century onwards, Nummi was a chapel community in the parish of Lohja. In 1863 Nummi was dissolved from Lohja as an independent parish. When the administration of the rural parishes was separated from the church administration in 1865, Nummi became a political parish. In 1981, Nummi merged with the neighboring municipality of Pusula to form the municipality of Nummi-Pusula , which in turn was incorporated into the city of Lohja in 2013.

Culture and sights

The Church of Nummi

One of the sights of Nummi is the church of Nummi , which was completed in 1822 according to plans by AN Edelcranz . The neoclassical Kreuzkirche is characterized by the use of field stone , a building material that was rare for that architectural era. The pulpit in the interior of the church is from the previous wooden building from 1635. The crucifix of the church, which probably dates from the late 14th century, is even older .
