Only Hassan Sabri ʿAbbas ( Arabic نور حسن صبري عباس, DMG Nūr Ḥasan Ṣabrī ʿAbbās , often Noor Ali Sabri after English transcription ; Born June 6, 1984 in Baghdad ) is an Iraqi soccer player .

In his youth Sabri was a striker, but when his team's goalkeeper was suddenly banned and given the fact that they had already made three changes and thus no new goalkeeper could enter, he decided to end the game as a goalkeeper. He surprised everyone by showing outstanding performance as a goalkeeper. Since then he has been a goalkeeper. In 2001 he played for Al-Zawraa from his hometown of Baghdad, in 2003 he moved to Al-Quwa al-Jawiya , also a Baghdad football club. In the summer of 2006 he went to Iran and played with Mes Kerman from Kerman . This was followed by a six-month commitment at the Iraqi club Duhok SC , before he signed a contract with Al-Talaba in the summer of 2008 . After a season at Al-Quwa al-Jawiya, he moved to Zaxo SC in autumn 2010.

National team

At the age of 16, Sabri was nominated for the national team by the then Iraqi coach Adnan Hamad, but was not used there. With the U-20 team he won the Asian Cup that same year; at this tournament Sabri was used in the final as a replacement for the suspended Ali Ahmed. He made his international debut for the senior team on July 22, 2002 in the 2-1 win over Syria in Baghdad. In 2004 he took part in the Olympic Games.

Sabri won the 2007 Asian championship with his country , but at the Confederations Cup in 2009 he was only number two behind the seeded Mohammed Kassid and was therefore not used.
