Just a Lie is a German silent film by Max Mack from 1915 with Hanni Weisse in the leading role.

action

When the dancer Colombine gets married, her husband demands that she break off all contact with her former colleagues with immediate effect. Colombine is in danger of becoming lonely, and one day when her husband is traveling, she takes the opportunity and goes to a variety ball. There she meets a friend from before. This acquaintance has nothing better to do than to tell her husband when he returns about the completely harmless meeting again.

Colombine's husband then confronts his wife, who in turn denies in order to avoid marital trouble. This white lie leads to the fact that the husband calls Colombine's ball acquaintance as a liar. In such circles such things are settled with a duel that re-establishes the supposedly tainted honor, and at the end of the tragic development there is the separation of the couple. Colombine returns to the stage while her ex-husband just tries to forget.
