Life

Hyan attended high school in Prenzlau , Brandenburg . In 1901 he launched the cabaret “Zur Silbernen Punschterrine” in Berlin, which lasted until 1904. In the lecture the cabaret artist remembered Aristide Bruant , from whom he also read texts. Hyan was liberal and socially critical. This was also reflected in the numerous detective novels that he wrote after his time on the stage. Kürschner's German Literature Calendar reports on 70 works. Her literary quality is considered modest. Hyan also wrote screenplays for films from 1913 and directed several times.

Sybille Buske also describes Hyan as a "sex reformer". Apparently he contributed to studies on (homo) sexuality.

Hyan was temporarily married to Käthe Hyan (1876-1958), who set his lyrics to music and accompanied them on the lute. One of Hyan's grandsons was the painter Jacques D. Hyan (1937–2008). According to this, his grandfather was friends with Heinrich Zille , who also illustrated for Hyan.

Hyan's estate is in the Berlin Academy of the Arts .

Hans brought chansons from Montmartre in Paris to Berlin, translated Aristide Bruant and wrote his own songs.
