action

The focus of the action is the disappearance of a valuable jewelry shipment. Behind it is a cunning gang of criminals led by a Don Juan of society. A wide variety of weird types move around this corridor; Fence inside, impostor and courtesans . The film shows how the preparations for the big raid are carried out in precise detail work and how their precious objects are then stolen from the jewelers.

Soon, however, a shrewd police investigator fixes himself on the tracks of the jewel thieves and puts the gang under pressure. Since the gang leader's mistress grows up in competition with another, younger woman, the somewhat older lady becomes the group's explosive device. In her jealousy, she betrays her lover, the don Juan and gang leader. So the police can arrest the crooks and break the gang. When the discarded lover realizes the effects of her betrayal, she takes poison and dies.

Production notes

The Millionaire Collar , also often written together ( The Millionaire Collar ), was created in the spring of 1914 in the Literarria film studio in Berlin-Tempelhof . The four-act act with a length of 1000 meters passed the film censorship in early May 1914 and was premiered on May 9 of the same year.

criticism

“The theme is vividly reminiscent of the pearl necklace affair that held Paris, London and the whole world in excitement for a long time. (…) The far greater advantage of the film, however, is the excellently successful portrayal of the character of a criminal society, which includes all types of these light-shy individuals, which the statistics of the criminalists recognize. (…) [The Traitor] is played by Erna Morena in the cynical manner that once made Asta Nielsen so popular with the audience. Mr. Antalffy also does his difficult job with great artistic élan. The staging, which involves splendid detailed work, is praiseworthy. "
