Nuraghe Orolo

The Nuraghe Orolo with its main tower still around 14 m high and the two- tower bastion built in front of large blocks of trachyte , a clover-leaf shape without an inner courtyard, stands at 785 m above the Abbasanta plateau on the Catena del Marghine near Bortigali in the province of Nuoro in Sardinia .

In the main entrance, the entrances to the not completely rounded and largely demolished secondary entholes branch off on both sides. Inside the nuraghe , a spiral staircase built into the wall leads to the first and second floor, but no longer the third floor. The remains of some hut foundations lie around the nuraghe.

Nuraghi are prehistoric and early historical towers of the Bonnanaro culture (2200–1600 BC) and the subsequent nuraghi culture (around 1600–400 BC) in Sardinia, which is inextricably linked with it .

Nearby is the Carrarzu e Iddia site .
