Abbasanta is a village on the Italian island of Sardinia in the province of Oristano with 2643 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).
The neighboring municipalities are: Ghilarza , Norbello , Paulilatino and Santu Lussurgiu .
The village is located on the Altopiano di Abbasanta plateau in an agriculturally well-developed area near the main traffic axis of Sardinia, the north-south motorway-like state road SS 131 , the SS 131dir branching off at Abbasanta to the northeast in the direction of Olbia and on the Cagliari– Golfo Aranci Marittima . The village itself is built around the Renaissance-style Santa Cristina church.
It is particularly important because of three archaeological sites in the vicinity :
- the giant tomb of Su Pranu
- the fountain sanctuary of Santa Cristina
- the Nuraghe Losa
- the Nuraghe Aiga
In Abbasanta there is a training facility of the Polizia di Stato and a small airmobile special unit of the Carabinieri . The local heliports are also used by the Italian fire brigade .
