Simaxis is an Italian commune in the province of Oristano in the Sardinia region with 2186 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). The municipality is located 16 km northeast of the provincial capital Oristano and 90 km northwest of Cagliari .

The neighboring municipalities are Ollastra , Oristano, Siamanna , Siapiccia , Solarussa and Zerfaliu .

Carnival is celebrated in Simaxis. The patron of the place is San Simaco Papa , the festival is celebrated on July 19th each year.

Former train station (2015)

The former Simaxis station is located on the Cagliari – Golfo Aranci Marittima railway line .
