Nurlan Asqaruly Noghajew ( Kazakh Нұрлан Асқарұлы Ноғаев , Russian Нурлан Аскарович Ногаев ; born July 30, 1967 in Oktyabrsk , Kazakh SSR ) is a Kazakh politician. He has been Kazakhstan's energy minister since December 2019.

Life

Nurlan Noghajew was born in Oktyabrsk in 1967 and graduated from Gubkin University for Petroleum and Gas in Moscow in 1993 . In 1999 he graduated from the Kazakh Academy for Management in Almaty . This was followed by a visit to the Moscow State Institute for International Relations .

After completing his training, Noghajew first worked in business. From 1993 to 1995 he was at Gili Paschero (Гили-Паскер) and until 1996 as deputy general director at Otrar Ltd. (Отрар Лтд) busy. He then held various positions, including Marketing Director and later General Director of the Kazakh oil company Kazakhturkmunay. From February to October 2006, he was the chairman of the board of directors of the Kazakh national oil company KazMunayGas and then headed the department for the oil industry in the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources. Since September 2007 Noghajew was Deputy Äkim (Governor) of Western Kazakhstan and in this role was responsible for the economy and finance as well as the oil and gas sector in the region. On January 20, 2012, he was finally appointed Akim of Western Kazakhstan. Since March 26, 2016, he was Äkim of the Atyrau region .

On December 18, 2019, he succeeded Qanat Bosymbayev as Kazakhstan's energy minister.
