Nusle (German: 1939–1945 Nusl ) is a district in Prague . It is located south of the center of the capital and administratively belongs to Prague 4 . Nusle extends in the Nusle Valley and on the Pankrác hill to the south .

history

Town Hall of Nusle

Nusle's boom began with the Industrial Revolution . At that time a train station was built and the community got a tram connection. The strongest development took place at the beginning of the 20th century. In 1922 Nusle was incorporated into Prague. Later construction took place only in the south, towards Pankrác and Vršovice . After the Second World War, the district began to decline. In 1974 the Nusle Valley was bridged by the Nuselský most ( Most Klementa Gottwalda until 1990 ). At the height of its southern slope is the congress center and further south-east the Prague prison. The old quarter center in the Botič valley is (still) one of the few restored ones in Prague. The creek Botič is also because of its mention in the book The Good Soldier Svejk by Jaroslav Hašek known. In 1991 the place had 40,796 inhabitants. In 2001 Nusle consisted of 1,377 houses in which 35,339 people lived.
