The O'Brien Bay is a side bay of Vincennes Bay on Budd Coast of the East Antarctic Wilke country . It lies between the Bailey Peninsula and the Mitchell Peninsula .
It was first mapped using aerial photographs taken by the United States Navy in 1947 and 1948 during Operation Highjump and Operation Windmill . The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named them in 1963 after Clement E. O'Brien (1920-2015) of the US Navy, communications officer in Operation Windmill, who was involved in the establishment of astronomical observation stations on the Windmill Islands in 1948 .
