O. Carl Simonton

Oscar Carl Simonton (born June 29, 1942 in Los Angeles , † June 18, 2009 in Agoura Hills ) was an American specialist in radiology and oncology .

Life

He founded and directed the Simonton Cancer Center (SCC) in Malibu (USA) and was one of the pioneers in psycho-oncology . For over 30 years he worked with cancer patients who wanted to actively support their recovery process. His work is of international importance for the counseling and support of cancer patients. Elements of his philosophy and techniques have influenced practical counseling in the field of psycho-oncology in the United States of America, Europe and Japan. The effect of the Simonton method he developed for the psycho-oncological support of patients was received by experts as follows:
