Oasis Hong Kong Airlines was a low-cost airline specializing in long-haul intercontinental flights, headquartered in Hong Kong and based at Hong Kong International Airport .
history
The company was founded in 2005 and the first machine was originally scheduled to take off from Hong Kong to London Gatwick on October 25, 2006 . Since the Oasis Hong Kong Airlines was initially denied the overflight permit for Russia , the machine had to remain on the ground. After the approval was finally granted, the first flight took place a day later than planned.
According to initial plans, the fleet should grow to 15 aircraft by 2009 and finally to 20 to 25 aircraft by 2010/2011. The Boeing 747 , but also the 777 and the 787, which was not yet in service at the time, and the Airbus A340 should be used as a priority .
According to the airline, tickets for all flights were sold from 1,000 HKD , the equivalent of around 100 EUR . On February 6, 2007, the cheapest one-way variant including taxes cost 176 GBP .
On April 9, 2008, Oasis Hong Kong Airlines ceased operations. The reason for this was the hitherto accumulated loss of 1 billion HKD, whereby according to unnamed sources 1 million HKD was flown in loss per flight. The airline was then liquidated . Two of the Oasis Hong Kong Airlines aircraft ( aircraft registration numbers B-LFA and B-LFB ) were taken over by the Indonesian Lion Air in 2009 .
Destinations
Oasis Hong Kong Airlines initially connected Hong Kong with London Gatwick and Vancouver . Later other destinations, including Berlin , Düsseldorf or Cologne / Bonn, should follow. Oasis Hong Kong Airlines would have been the first low-cost airline to offer long-haul intercontinental flights to and from Germany and Switzerland .
fleet
To cease flight operations, the Oasis Hong Kong Airlines fleet consisted of three aircraft:
- 3 Boeing 747-400 (registration numbers B-LFA , B-LFB and B-LFC ; taken over by Singapore Airlines and All Nippon Airways )
