Ian Gordon (born May 15, 1975 in North Battleford , Saskatchewan ) is a former German - Canadian ice hockey goalkeeper who played in the German Ice Hockey League for the Frankfurt Lions , SERC Wild Wings and ERC Ingolstadt , among others . The greatest success of his career was winning the German championship with the Lions in 2004.

Career

After his junior years in the Canadian Junior League Western Hockey League with the Swift Current Broncos , the 1.78 meter tall left catcher played from 1995 to 2000 in the American minor leagues AHL for the Saint John Flames and IHL for the Grand Rapids Griffins as well as the Cleveland Lumberjacks and the Utah Grizzlies .

For the 2000/01 DEL season , the goalkeeper moved to the Schwenninger Wild Wings in the German Ice Hockey League . After three years in Schwenningen, which ended with the bankruptcy of his previous employer and the associated relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga , Gordon signed a contract with the DEL Frankfurt Lions in the summer of 2003 , with whom he played in the first joint Season German champion .

On November 18, 2008, Ian Gordon received German citizenship and thus no longer held a foreign license. From the 2010/2011 DEL season , Gordon played for ERC Ingolstadt. On February 19, 2013, the goalkeeper completed his 700th DEL game, but Ingolstadt would have to admit defeat to Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg . After the 2012/13 season , the father of three ended his career and returned to Canada. In the 13 seasons in the DEL he was on the ice in 712 games and was able to book 45 shutouts .
