Top feed

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The top feed is a form of antenna coupling . This means feeding a vertical radiator , for example a self-radiating transmitter mast , at the top of the mast. For this purpose, ropes are stretched from the voting house to the uppermost guy level of the guys or to the top of the mast, which are connected to the transmitter output . If the top feed is from the top guy level, there must be an insulator between the anchor block and the feed point .

The top feed has the advantage over the classic base feed that the antenna support can be set up so that it is earthed . Among other things, this simplifies the supply of flight safety lamps and optimizes lightning protection.
