Osnabrück Higher Court

The Osnabrück Higher Court was a large higher court in the Kingdom of Hanover . It had its seat in Osnabrück in Lower Saxony .

After the revolution of 1848 was the Kingdom of Hanover , the jurisdiction of the administration separated and the patrimonial abolished.

On October 1, 1852, 12 major and 4 minor higher courts were set up as courts of second instance (comparable to today's regional courts ), including the Osnabrück Higher Court.

In 1859 the number of local courts was reduced. There remained:

  • District court Bersenbrück (from AG Bersenbrück and AG Quakenbrück)
  • District Court Diepholz (from District Court Diepholz and District Court Lemförde )
  • Fürstenau District Court
  • District Court Melle (from the District Court Grönenberg)
  • District court Iburg
  • Osnabrück District Court (from the Osnabrück District Courts and the City of Osnabrück)
  • District court Vörden
  • Wittlage District Court

With the annexation of Hanover by Prussia in 1866, it first became a Prussian higher court and was then converted into the Osnabrück district court . In 1875 the Meppen Higher Court was repealed and the judicial district was added to the Osnabrück Higher Court.
