history

In 1889, the acquired printer Emil Radek from Cosel a printing house of Arnold Kukutsch in Oberglogau.

In the same year, on October 1st, the first edition of the “Oberglogauer Zeitung” was published, which was supposed to appear twice a week. It was initially criticized for its format , which was unusually large at 29 cm × 40 cm. The newspaper contained information from the areas of home , church and fatherland .

In 1925, after the death of Emil Radek, his wife Elisabeth continued the publishing and printing business with the help of Otto Radek. Five years later, in 1930, Klaus Radek, Emil Radek's son, took over the business. As the owner of an extensive printing and publishing house, the Oberglogauer was very respected.

The Oberglogauer Zeitung was published until 1945 and had many readers. In the years 1928–1945 it appeared three times a week and steadily increased its circulation . This reached its peak in 1939 with 3,165 copies. At this point in time the newspaper had eight supplements that addressed representatives of various social groups such as farmers , teachers and housewives . For example, the part “From the Oberglogauer Lande” was editorially supervised by teachers, among others, such as the headmasters Josef Fahrt and Alfred Kosian, who had made a contribution to the culture of Oberglogauer.
