Location of Oberhausen in Rhineland-Palatinate

Oberhausen is a district of the local community Wallhalben in the district of Südwestpfalz in Rhineland-Palatinate .

location

Oberhausen is located in the west of the municipality on the Sickinger Höhe and has grown together structurally with the core town; only the Wallhalb represents a spatial separation. Right through the settlement area, the Hermersbach flows in a west-east direction , which is an orographically right tributary of the Wallhalb.

history

Until 1792 the place belonged to Pfalz-Zweibrücken . From 1798 to 1814, when the Palatinate was part of the French Republic (until 1804) and then part of the Napoleonic Empire , Oberhausen was incorporated into the Canton of Zweibrücken . In 1815 the place had 248 inhabitants. Then the place changed to the Kingdom of Bavaria . From 1818 to 1862 the place was part of the Landkommissariat Zweibrücken , which was then converted into a district office. From 1938 the place was part of the district of Zweibrücken . After the Second World War , Oberhausen became part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate within the French occupation zone . In the course of the first administrative reform in Rhineland-Palatinate, the place was merged on April 1, 1968 with the neighboring community of Wallhalben, which was previously in the district of Pirmasens, to form the new local community of Wallhalben-Oberhausen . Four years later the community was renamed Wallhalben . In the same year, due to the dissolution of the district of Zweibrücken, she moved to the district of Pirmasens, which since 1997 has been known as the "district of Südwestpfalz".
