history

The Stettin Higher Regional Court (OLG Stettin) was formed on October 1, 1879. On this day the so-called Reich Justice Laws came into force and replaced the independent court constitutions of the German federal states that had existed until then. The OLG Stettin was formed according to the Prussian law, concerning the establishment of the higher regional courts and the regional courts of March 4, 1878 as one of 13 higher regional courts in Prussia . The seat of the court was Stettin , the capital of the Prussian province of Pomerania .

The OLG Stettin existed until 1945. The last settlement of a legal case dates from April 11, 1945; on April 30, 1945 Szczecin was occupied by Soviet troops. An alternate office for the OLG district of Stettin worked in Greifswald to deal with administrative matters until the end of 1945 . The city of Stettin and the greater part of the OLG district of Stettin came to Poland after the Second World War.
