The Ancona trolleybus is an electric local transport system in the central Italian city of Ancona . It consists of a 6.5 kilometer long line with the designation 1/4, which emerged from a union of lines 1 and 4. It runs from Piazza IV Novembre via Piazza Cavour through the city center, past the Ancona train station and Piazza Ugo Bassi to the terminus in Via Tavernelle near the polytechnic university.

history

In the 1960s there was a network of over 21 kilometers in length, which replaced the streetcar network that was destroyed in the war in 1949. Most of the branches, which reached far into the suburbs, were discontinued by 1977. Only the current south branch to Tavernelle went back into operation in 2007 and was merged with the also remaining north branch for the current tour. Apart from that, some of the depot access can be used electrically. In March 2016, renovations in the station apron prevent continuous operation with overhead lines, so that the vehicles here have to be disconnected and driven with auxiliary drives.
