Network plan

The trolleybus Lecce is an account opened in 2012 and consisting of three lines O bus system in the Apulian town of Lecce on the Italian peninsula Salento , which by the Società Gestione SpA Multipla is operated.

Line network

Since inception of the diameter line 29 on 12 January 2012 and the commissioning of the two ring lines on February 2, 2013, there is a route network today of a total of three lines (as of July 2013):

line route Timing sequence HVZ / NVZ
29 Stazione FS → Via Cavallotti → Porta Napoli → Via XXV Lugio → Stazione FS 16/24 minutes
30th Stazione FS → Viale Leopardi → Porta Napoli → Stazione FS (city ring counterclockwise) 40/40 minutes
31 Stazione FS → Porta Napoli → Viale Leopardi → Stazione FS (city ring clockwise) 40/40 minutes
The starting point for all trolleybus routes in Lecce is the turning loop in front of the train station

The line 29 starts outside the station and reaches about the Viale Oronzo Quarta the city ring she to the intersection of Viale Galli Polo and Viale Francesco Lo Re is traveling. Here the route branches off into the city, with cars traveling into the city via Viale Otranto , Piazza Italia , Viale Felice Cavallotti and Via San Francesco D'Assisi reaching the Giardini Publici , while trolleybuses traveling towards the train station from here Via Viale XXV Lugilo , Piazza Filippo Bottazzi and Viale Francesco Lo Re .

From Giardini Publici , the line again follows a common course through Viale Michele de Pietro , on which it meets the ring again in the northwest of the city center at Piazza del Bastione . With a short junction via the Superstrada Brindisi - Lecce , cars coming from the station serve the Foro Boario and City Terminal stops , which are located in the middle of a large park-and-ride facility outside the center. Then it goes back to the city ring, where south of the Piazza del Bastione at the Porta Napoli the terminus is reached.

The ring lines 30 and 31 also start on the station forecourt and run from there via Viale Oronzo Quarta to Viale Gallipoli in the northeast . From there, the city ring, consisting of the streets Viale Università , Via Francesco Calasso , Viale Ugo Foscollo , Viale Japigia , Viale Gioacchino Rossini , Viale Vittorio Alfieri and Viale Marche , is served, with line 30 following these in a counterclockwise direction, while line 31 in a clockwise direction wrong. In the Via Università there is also an approximately 700-meter-long catenary-free section that has to be bridged with an auxiliary drive . The city did not approve overhead lines in this area .

Another currently unused catenary on the route of today's line 27 leads from the southwestern city ring to outlying Lecce campus Ecotekne the University of Salento : On the Via Università is the Viale Armando Diaz reached on the railway line Lecce-Brindisi crosses under becomes. By Via Bortone and Via Guglielmo Massaglia is Via Monteroni achieved on the route leaves the city. Before crossing the ring road , the catenary ends at the roundabout in the driveway area , so that the final stop at the Ecotekne university campus , which is about halfway to Monteroni di Lecce , can only be reached with an auxiliary drive. Diesel buses are currently still in use on line 27 , and a switch to trolleybus operation is planned.

history

planning

In 2005, Lecce decided to introduce the trolleybus as an environmentally friendly means of local transport . The electrification of three lines was planned:

  • Line 1: train station ↔ inner city ring in both directions (approx. 6 km each)
  • Line 2: Train station ↔ Ecotekne University Campus (approx. 6 km)
  • Line 3: Railway station ↔ City Terminal P + R ↔ Porta Napoli (approx. 3 km)

In the same year, the tender for the construction and delivery of electrical equipment and vehicles was issued. The companies IMET, Sirti (installation of overhead lines and masts), Van Hool (vehicles) and Vossloh Kiepe (electrical components) won.

The assumption of the total costs in the amount of 22,029,965 euros was divided as follows:

  • 13,218,197 euros from the Ministry of Infrastructure
  • 3,060,900 euros from the region
  • 5,750,887 euros from the municipality

In connection with the financing of the trolleybus system, there were later investigations by the public prosecutor , which also led to an arrest .

construction

The first test drive on the unfinished network took place on May 11, 2007, in which Mayor Adriana Poli Bortone and her deputy Paul Perrone also took part.

The remaining contact lines had been installed by 2009 and the construction company applied for acceptance of the network.

Installation

On January 12, 2012, the route planned as line 3 from the train station through the city center to Porta Napoli was put into operation with a delay of over four and a half years under line number 29. Reasons for the massive postponement were, among other things, a change in local politics, various delays in political decisions and recently unsecured funding postponed the opening of the system again and again.

About a year later, on February 2, 2013, line 1 started operating. With the line numbers 30 and 31, the original designation of the former diesel-powered ring lines was retained.

vehicles

Twelve Van Hool A330T vehicles with electrical equipment from Vossloh Kiepe , which also supplied the Kiepe OSA 311 pantograph system , are used. As a traction motor , a is externally ventilated triphase asynchronous type Skoda 23 ML 3550 K / 4 is used. An auxiliary drive with 80 kW power enables overhead line sections to be operated at speeds of up to 60 km / h. The 12-meter-long, 2.55-meter-wide and approximately 13-tonne wagons were designed as full-low-floor buses with three double doors. In addition to 27 seats and 44 standing spaces, there is also a storage area for wheelchairs or prams. The twelve vehicles are fully air-conditioned and have a light blue paintwork.

The first car was delivered to Lecce on March 29, 2007 and presented to the public at the Mobility Tech trolleybus conference . The other trolleybuses were gradually delivered from autumn 2007. Eight wagons had been delivered when operations started in 2012; at that time, another four were still at Van Hool in Belgium .

Operating facilities

The trolleybus plans included the construction of a new depot northwest of the Piazza del Bastione on Via Antonio Perilli . No contact lines are provided for operational trips to and from the depot , so the auxiliary drive is used for this.
