The trolleybus Sanremo - Italian rete filoviaria Sanremo or filovia della Riviera dei Fiori called - is a trolley bus operation In northern Italy . In and around Sanremo , the transport company Riviera Trasporti ( RT ) operates three electric lines , the city is one of the smallest Italian cities with a trolleybus system. A special feature are the two overland lines on the Via Aurelia along the Ligurian coast , the third line condenses them in the urban area:

line route Tact Courses length
02 / V Sanremo, Autostazione - Ventimiglia , Piazza Costituente every 15 min. 9 16 km
13 / T Sanremo, Autostazione - Taggia , Stazione FS every 20 min. 4th 11 km
14 / U Sanremo, La Brezza - Sanremo, Villa Helios every 30 min. 2 06 km

Note: the line designation "U" stands for Linea Urbana , which means city line

The trolleybus in Sanremo has been running since April 21, 1942, when it replaced the local overland tram . The operating company's name at the time was Società Trasporti Elettrici Liguri ( STEL ). After two route extensions in 1948 (route to Taggia) and 1951 (section from Ospedaletti to Ventimiglia), the current network length is 29 kilometers. However, the line to Taggia has been served exclusively by diesel buses since December 20, 2001 due to road construction work . Shortly before the terminus, part of the contact line also had to be dismantled. In addition, line 2 has been operated in mixed operation with diesel buses for several years , only a maximum of five of the nine courses are equipped with trolleybuses. The reason for this is a substation in Ventimiglia that was destroyed as a result of a flood .
