line | route | Travel time | Clock weekly / holiday |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Strada Farnese - Via Mazzini - Barriera Garibaldi | 19/19 minutes | 15/20 minutes |
3 | Crocetta - Ospedale - Via Mazzini - Piazza Garibaldi - San Lazzaro | 26/26 minutes | 15/30 minutes |

5 | Via Chiavari - Ospedale - Via Mazzini - Piazza Garibaldi - Via Orazio | 37/35 minutes | 12/30 minutes |
The central section of the network, which is used by all lines, is the Ponte di Mezzo over the Parma River and the Via Giuseppe Mazzini to the east .
The line 1 starts in the southwest of the city at the Strada Comunale Farnese , wherein the turning loop immediately adjacent to the ring road Tangenziale Sud located. The extensive depot facilities are circled via Via Baganza and Via Taro before the route at Viale Villetta reaches the intersection with the operating route leading to the main gate of the depot . Passing the Cimitero della Villetta cemetery , you will reach Piazzale Tomaso Barbieri , where the city gate Porta San Francesco , commonly known as Barriera Bixio , is crossed. Via the Strada Nino Bixio , the central section of the route is reached directly at the Ponte di Mezzo . Line 1 runs north of Via Giuseppe Mazzini via Strada Giuseppe Garibaldi to the northern terminus at the Barriera Garibaldi roundabout , which is just a few meters from the train station.
Line 3 crosses Parma on the almost straight east-west axis: Starting from the Via Cremonese roundabout in Crocetta , the route follows Via Emilia Ovest , which further into the city becomes Via Gramsci and past the University Hospital Ospedale Maggiore di Parma . After passing the Barriera Santa Croce , the line reaches the Ponte di Mezzo in the city center via Via D'Azeglio . Behind the Piazza Garibaldi Giuseppe the line follows the Strada della Repubblica to the Barriera Repubblica , where it leaves the city center again. The final stop in San Lazzaro is reached on Via Emilia Est . This is located in a small square at the intersection of Via Marco Emilio Lepido and Via Catullo .
The Line 4 begins in the Via Mordacci Renato e Sergio west of the city and follows the meeting on the Via Gramsci line 3 on the course through the city center. In the east, the route branches off from Via Marco Emilio Lepido into Via Passo di Lagastrello and thus leaves the common section to the north. Via the residential streets Via Passo del Bratello , Via Passo Colla , Via Quarta , you will reach the final stop at the intersection of Via Parigi and Via Atene .
Line 5 starts southwest of the city in Cavagnari . From the final stop in Via Chiavari , the route runs on Via la Spezia towards the city. The Palasport district is accessed via Via Silvio Pellico and Via Alexander Fleming , before the hospital is reached via Via Monsignore Evasio Colli and Via Abbeveratoia . From here the route runs together with lines 3 and 4 through the city center. Around 500 meters east of the Barriera Repubblica , it then leaves the common course to take a generous loop through southern San Lazzaro via Strada Antonoa Zarotto , Via Giuditta Sidoli , Via Ludovico Antonio Muratori and Via Orazio Quinto Flacco to the final stop on Piazzale Sallustio Gaio Crispo to arrive. Although only around 200 meters from the turning loop of line 3, there is no direct contact line connection between the two outer branches.
In contrast to the other trolleybus routes, on which the older Menarini are usually used, only low-floor vehicles are used on route 5 .
history
On October 25, 1953, a trolleybus network consisting of three lines with a length of 13 kilometers was put into operation in Parma, which replaced the aging tram:
- Line 1: Stazione FS ↔ cimitero della Villetta
- Line 2: San Leonardo ↔ Via Montebello
- Line 3: San Lazzaro ↔ Crocetta
Planned by the Milanese engineer Giuseppe Barbieri, the pipeline network was installed by Compagnia Elettrotecnica Italiana , also based in Milan . To start operations, Fiat procured sixteen 10.40 meter long and 2.50 meter wide trolleybuses with a Cansa body, which had two double doors and 20 seats as well as a driver's seat and a conductor's seat .
Exactly one month after opening, the tram network was shut down on November 25, 1953.
In 1968, line 1 was extended to the Orzi di Baganza cemetery . In 1972, as part of an extension, line 2 was converted to bus operation. Today there are no catenaries on the former route.
In the last few decades the trolleybus system has been expanded step by step: in 1987, line 1 in the south of Orzi di Baganza was expanded to today's final stop on Strada Farnese . In 1989 bus line 4 was converted to trolleybus operation and in 1998 bus line 5 was electrified.
depot
The large depot "I ° maggio" (German for "May 1" ), which opened on June 14, 1969, is located on Via Villetta and today offers space for all TEP vehicles on an area of 47,000 square meters. It is connected to the southern branch of the trolleybus line 1 via a short operating route. The workshops, the management and the offices of TEP are also located on the site.
The construction of the 19,600 square meter intercity bus depot cost 410 million lira at the time . In 1997, the facility was expanded to include a southern section, which closed the municipal depot “XXV aprile” (German “April 25” ), which was also located one block into town on Via Villetta and until then had been the home of the trolleybus fleet . Opened on June 13, 1965 after four years of construction, the premises for the city buses had a total area of 21,700 square meters, of which 7,515 square meters were built over. The control center, the management, offices, workshops, washing bay and warehouse also found their place.
The trolleybuses were previously parked in the former tram depot on Via Pintor Giaime , which was abandoned due to the limited space available.
