Obernetphen is a district and a district of the city of Netphen in the Siegen-Wittgenstein district in North Rhine-Westphalia . Until 1969 Obernetphen was an independent municipality in what was then the district of Siegen .

geography

Obernetphen comprises the eastern part of the Netphener core city at the confluence of the Obernau in the Sieg . The center of the village is around the Sankt-Martins-Kirche.

history

Since the 19th century Obernetphen formed a rural community in the office of Netphen in the district of Siegen in the Westphalian administrative district of Arnsberg .

On January 1, 1969, Obernetphen became part of the municipality of Netphen through the Second Siegerland Act , which received town charter in 2000. Today Obernetphen and Niedernetphen form the district of Netphen of the city of Netphen.
