Jürgen Detlefsen

Jürgen Detlefsen (born  October 3, 1943 in Dresden ; †  November 12, 2016 ) was a German university professor for high frequency technology .

Life

After completing his school education, he began studying electrical engineering at what was then the Technical University (TH) and now the Technical University (TU) Munich (TUM), from which he graduated as a graduate engineer (Dipl.-Ing.).

He did his doctorate with Professor Groll (1924-2017) at his chair for microwave technology as a doctoral engineer (Dr.-Ing.) And completed his habilitation in 1978 in Munich with a thesis on imaging with microwaves. He was then appointed professor for radio positioning and navigation at TUM , before he was given the specialist area “High-frequency fields and circuits” in 1988, which he held as associate professor until his retirement on March 31, 2012.

Detlefsen supervised numerous diploma and doctoral students. He was a member of the International Union of Radio Science (URSI) , the Radar Technology Special Committee of the German Society for Positioning and Navigation (DGON) and the Microwave Technology Committee of the Information Technology Society (ITG). In 2003 he was chairman of the European Conference on Wireless Technology (ECWT 2003) and in 2007 of the European Radar Conference (EuRad). He died at the age of 73.
