The Obersaidaer Teich is an artificial pond created in the 18th century in the Obersaida district of the same name in the municipality of Großhartmannsdorf in the Ore Mountains . It is part of the Freiberg Revierwasserlaufanstalt .

history

The pond was built on the orders of Augustus the Strong and previously served as an energy source for Freiberg silver ore mining. The dam consists of an earth wall with a clay seal, it also has a harrow house and an overflow structure with a flood channel.

The Dörnthaler Kunstgraben ends below the pond dam and the Obersaidaer Kunstgraben begins , through which water can be cut into the Upper Großhartmannsdorfer pond .

The structure dams the Saidenbach and is today mainly managed in the side connection of the artificial ditch system of the Freiberg Revierwasserlaufanstalt as a pre- dam of the Saidenbach dam . It thus serves to pre-clean the water flowing into the dam.
