history

In 1528 a master with an unknown name sold the already existing glassworks, as he had taken over from a Niklasen, to Baron Johann von Degenberg .

On July 10, 1568, Stephan von Klosen, guardian of his son Stephan von Degenberg, sold the estate to Joachim Poschinger on inheritance rights. In 1614 Nikolaus Preißler was a smelter, after his death his son Hans Preißler. In 1540, Hans Preißler bought the Unterzwieselau glassworks from Adam Jungmeier.

In 1698 Georg Poschinger is named as the tenant of Oberzwieselau. The Hilz glassworks family ruled here from 1705 to 1808. On November 3, 1808, the Frauenau glassworker Benedikt von Poschinger married the widow Anna Hilz.

In 1855, in addition to the glass factory, the place had 16 scattered houses, a school and a brewery . On April 1, 1856, Benedikt von Poschinger divided the estate into the two hereditary estates of Oberzwieselau and Buchenau, each with 7,000 days' work, and handed them over to the sons Benedikt and Ferdinand. The hut in Oberzwieselau became famous for its goblets and glasses in the Byzantine style. However, it had to close in 1918.

On February 21, 1925, Maria Helene von Poschinger married the Baltic Count Bernd August von Mellin (annulled in 1934). Their only daughter Barbara (* 1933) became the wife of Baron Joachim von Wolffersdorff . In 1929 the estate administration built the Zwieselauer Waldbahn , which was in operation until 1958. In 1959, Oberzwieselau Castle, built in 1839, was used to portray an East Prussian mansion when filming the film Night fell over Gotenhafen .

Baron Ali von Wolffersdorff has been running the estate since 1961. From 1988 onwards, an 18-hole golf park was built on an area of 100 hectares from the property of the Graeflich Mellin-Wolffersdorff administration, which was previously used for agriculture, forestry or as a park, and was opened on June 11, 1993 by the first president of the golf club, Baron Wolffersdorff, founded in 1991.
