Oblivion - The Black Hole in Gardaland ( Castelnuovo del Garda , Verona , Italy ) is a floorless - roller coaster on the model dive coaster the Swiss manufacturer Bolliger & Mabillard , which opened on March 28, 2015. The 566 m long route reaches a height of 42.5 m and has an Immelmann as well as a 270 ° helix and a heartline roll . Oblivion, the only dive coaster in Italy, has three trains with six seats in one of the three rows.
journey
After the hydraulic platforms and fences have been folded to the side for boarding, the train leaves the station straight into the 42.5 meter high lift hill . After a left turn you come to a holding brake, which first leads the train slowly over the first drop, stops it on the slope for about three seconds and finally releases it. At the end of the 87 degree steep First Drop , which leads into a tunnel at the bottom, the train reaches its maximum speed. It is followed by an Immelmann as a turning point . After a depression there is a small camelback hill that ends in the 270 ° helix that runs counterclockwise. This combination of elements is followed by a heartline roll as a novelty for a dive coaster . After a right turn, the train pulls into the final brake. After another 180-degree turn to the right, the train, which has slowed down considerably, returns to the station.
technology
rail
The track made of steel is 566 meters long, the lift hill is approx. 42.5 meters high. The rails and supports are white. Due to the smaller trains compared to other dive coasters such as SheiKra or Griffon , it was possible to use the standard rails from Bolliger & Mabillard for a dive coaster, as with Krake in the Heide Park Resort .
Trains
Oblivion has three identical cables made of steel and fiberglass . Each train consists of three cars with six seats each for 18 passengers per train. Every single black seat has an orange shoulder bar as a restraint system . In the rear rows of seats, compared to the front rows, the seating positions are increased by approx. 30 centimeters for better visibility; this means that the rows are arranged in steps. There is also a roll-back protection under the trains, which should prevent the train from rolling back in the event of the chain lift breaking. There is also a device for the holding brake under the trains.
