Ochtertyre House is a mansion near the Scottish town of Crieff in the Council Area Perth and Kinross . In 1971 the structure was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.

history

A predecessor by the Murray Baronets , of Ochtertyre, existed at the site and was renovated in the 1740s. The current Ochtertyre House was built between 1784 and 1790. For this, the old mansion had to be demolished first. William Murray of Ochtertyre laid the foundation stone for the new building on June 4, 1784. In December 1790 it was occupied.

Ochtertyre House is isolated around 2.5 kilometers northwest of Crieff near the north bank of Loch Monzievaird . The Georgian- style building is built into the slope, so that it is three-story along the south-facing main facade and two-story along the rear facade. Its masonry consists of stone blocks that were built into layered masonry. On the main facade, the entrance area emerges from the central projections at a rounded canopy . Its end is used on the second floor as a balcony with a stone balustrade . Behind it is a Venetian window . The risalit closes with a simple triangular gable . The rear facade is also designed with a triangular gable, but also with Doric columns. The outgoing single-story wings are decorated with Venetian windows.
