Octene

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The octenes are a group of substances in chemistry and belong to the alkenes . It consists of several isomeric compounds with the empirical formula C 8 H 16 . Octenes have a double bond between two carbon atoms . This can be in four different positions; Therefore, four linear, i.e. straight-chain, isomers can be distinguished:

A non-linear representative is:

synthesis

Octenes are produced by the Dimersol-X process .

use

Octenes be the oxo or hydroformylation process in nonyl converted containing as plasticizer for the production of polyvinyl chloride is used.
