Oda Wischmeyer

Oda Wischmeyer (born August 20, 1944 in Köslin ) is a Protestant theologian . From 1993 to 2009 she was Professor of the New Testament at the University of Erlangen .

Life

From 1963 to 1968, Oda Wischmeyer studied German and Protestant theology in Göttingen and Heidelberg , where she received her doctorate in 1973 with a thesis on 1 Cor 13. In 1993 she completed her habilitation in Heidelberg on the book Jesus Sirach . From 1993 to 2009 she was Professor of New Testament at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.

From 2005 to 2007 Oda Wischmeyer was Dean of the Faculty of Theology.

Oda Wischmeyer was a member of the Scientific Advisory Board at the Joint Faculties of Humanities and Theology at Lund University (2009 to 2012). In 2008/2009 she was a member of the “Theologies, Religious Studies” working group of the Science Council . In 2015, Lund University awarded her an honorary doctorate.

Work and research

Oda Wischmeyer's research focus is New Testament hermeneutics . Further research areas are the life and work of Paul , the Gospel of Mark, the epistle of James and early Judaism, especially Ben Sira.
