Odesza ( spelling : ODESZA ) is an American duo in the field of electronic music , consisting of Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight. The two formed the group in 2012 shortly before graduating from Western Washington University . Her debut album, Summer's Gone, received a lot of attention in the underground electronic music scene.
history
Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight met during their freshman year at Western Washington University . In 2012, their final year at university, they decided to make music together and founded Odesza.
Odessa was the name of a ship on which Mills' uncle worked. After a shipwreck in which only Mill's uncle and one other crew member survived, the two named their project after him. They only exchanged an "S" for a "Z" because the name was already used by another band.
The duo released their first album, Summer's Gone, on September 5th of the same year . The following year the two released the EP My Friends Never Die with five songs. After this release, they were booked as the opening act for Pretty Lights on their Analog Future Tour in autumn 2013. In September 2014 Odesza released their second studio album, In Return .
