National debt ratio in Hungary

The national debt ratio of Hungary indicates the relationship between the Hungarian national debt on the one hand and the Hungarian nominal gross domestic product on the other.

Development in recent years

Hungary's national debt ratio rose between 2008 and 2013 due to the financial crisis . While the national debt of 19,370.4 billion forints at the end of 2008 corresponded to a national debt ratio of 73.0%, the national debt ratio at the end of 2013 reached a value of 79.3% in view of a debt level of then 23,068.2 billion forints.

Forecast development

The International Monetary Fund assumes that Hungary's national debt ratio will decline to 77.7% by the end of 2019, with a debt level of then 28,890.3 billion forints.
