National debt ratio in Turkey

The national debt ratio of Turkey indicates the relationship between the Turkish national debt on the one hand and the Turkish nominal gross domestic product on the other.

Development in recent years

Turkey's national debt ratio fell between 2008 and 2013. Whereas the national debt of 380.1 billion Turkish lira at the end of 2008 corresponded to a national debt ratio of 40.0%, the national debt ratio at the end of 2013 reached a value of 36.3% in view of a debt level of then 566.3 billion Turkish lira.

Forecast development

The International Monetary Fund assumes that Turkey's national debt ratio will decrease to 30.6% by the end of 2019, with a debt level of 870.8 billion Turkish lira.
