National debt ratio in Montenegro

The national debt ratio of Montenegro indicates the relationship between the Montenegrin national debt on the one hand and the Montenegrin nominal gross domestic product on the other.

Development in recent years

The national debt ratio of Montenegro rose between 2008 and 2013 due to the financial crisis . While the national debt of 0.9 billion euros at the end of 2008 corresponded to a national debt ratio of 29.0%, the national debt ratio at the end of 2013, given a debt level of 1.9 billion euros, reached 58.0%.

Forecast development

The International Monetary Fund assumes that the national debt ratio of Montenegro will rise to 71.7% by the end of 2019 with a debt level of EUR 3.1 billion.
