National debt ratio in Switzerland

The national debt ratio of Switzerland shows the relationship between the Swiss national debt on the one hand and the Swiss nominal gross domestic product on the other hand.

Development in recent years

The national debt ratio in Switzerland fell between 2008 and 2013. While the national debt of CHF 286.5 billion at the end of 2008 corresponded to a national debt ratio of 50.5%, the national debt ratio at the end of 2013, given a debt level of CHF 290.9 billion, reached a value of 48.3%.

Forecast development

The International Monetary Fund assumes that Switzerland's national debt ratio will decrease to 38.9% by the end of 2019, with a debt level of CHF 270.7 billion.
