National debt ratio in North Macedonia

The national debt ratio of North Macedonia shows the relationship between the Macedonian national debt on the one hand and the Macedonian nominal gross domestic product on the other.

Development in recent years

Macedonia's national debt ratio rose between 2008 and 2013 due to the financial crisis . Whereas the national debt of 86.1 billion Macedonian dinars at the end of 2008 corresponded to a national debt ratio of 20.9%, the national debt ratio at the end of 2013 reached a value of 35.9% in view of a debt level of then 169.6 billion Macedonian dinars.

Forecast development

The International Monetary Fund assumes that the national debt ratio of Macedonia will rise to 39.3% by the end of 2019 with a debt level of 262.5 billion Macedonian dinars.
