National debt ratio in Bulgaria

The national debt ratio of Bulgaria indicates the relationship between the Bulgarian national debt on the one hand and the Bulgarian nominal gross domestic product on the other.

Development in recent years

Bulgaria's national debt ratio remained almost constant between 2008 and 2013 despite the financial crisis . While the national debt of 10.7 billion leva at the end of 2008 corresponded to a national debt ratio of 15.5%, the national debt ratio at the end of 2013 was 16.4% in view of a debt level of 12.8 billion leva.

Forecast development

The International Monetary Fund assumes that Bulgaria's national debt ratio will rise to 22.3% by the end of 2019, with a debt level of then 21.9 billion leva.
