Oedt (Traun)
Oedt is the westernmost district of Traun . It has 2,653 inhabitants (as of 2011). In the west and north, Oedt borders on Hörsching , the southern border is formed by the Traun .
Industrial history
The A. Löcker sheep's wool mill was founded in Oedt after 1860. The choice of location was related to the water power of the Mühlbach. However, the company soon had to close. In 1870 the factory was put back into operation as a wadding factory and in 1877 it was taken over by the Berl brothers. After the modernization of the factory, they switched production to the manufacture of woolen blankets in 1884. Finally, blankets and sheep's wool loden were produced in the “First Upper Austrian Blanket and Kotzenfabrik”. The First World War ensured long-term orders from the Austro-Hungarian Army . However, as a result of bottlenecks in the coal supply, the company's production had to be reduced. After the dissolution of Austria-Hungary through the Paris suburb contracts , considerable parts of the Biehl company's sales areas were lost. As the production capacities exceeded the demand in Austria, the company's range was switched to cloth production. In 1930 the company employed 180 people. As a result of an upswing that began in 1933, the number of employees was increased to 260 in 1934. The owners of the factory, which meanwhile belonged to the Jewish Abeles brothers, were expropriated in 1938 as part of the so-called " Aryanization ". The company was able to benefit from an upswing after the Second World War , but had to stop production in the 1960s. Today, a steel construction company is run on the company's premises.
geography
Water protection area
To the north of the residential area there is a water protection area , which was only enlarged a few years ago through the purchase of arable land that was planted. A walking path leads through this water protection area.
Alluvial forest
In the south is the Au , which accompanies the Traun and extends from it to the industrial area. This Au is one of the most important recreational areas in the city of Traun. Along the Traun there is an asphalt bike path, which is used not only by cyclists but also by numerous pedestrians, joggers and skaters.
Bathing lake
In Oedt there is the Oedter See, a 99,000 m² bathing lake that was created in 1960 as a groundwater lake. It was designed as a swimming lake from the start. The lake is up to 6 m deep. There is a children's paddling pool and a water treatment system next to the lake. Since August 2004, examinations according to the EU guidelines for bathing water have found good bathing water quality. Previously, official investigations had determined a questionable water quality, and appropriate treatment of the water was necessary.
