Fishing wood

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Fischerholz , also called Oestergaarder Wald or Oestergaarder Gehölz ( Danish : Østergårdskov or Fiskerskov ), is an approximately 24 hectare forest in the north of Schleswig-Holstein on the Flensburg Fjord .

description

The forest area is located near the Oestergaard estate, a district of the Steinberg community in the Schleswig-Flensburg district . The Geltinger Bay and the ecologically valuable Geltinger Birk are in the immediate vicinity of the forest . The forest area is rather small, as is often found in Schleswig-Holstein. The forest is privately owned and part of a total of 127 hectares.

In the mixed forest one encounters the tree species composition typical of the east coast of Schleswig-Holstein. Deciduous trees are predominant, especially beech , oak , maple and ash . There are also mountain ash , birch and poplar, including mainly the quivering poplar . These tree species also occur naturally, so they are suitable for the location. A coniferous wood consisting of Douglas fir , red spruce and sitka spruce was artificially created by man . However, this fell victim to a storm with windthrow in 2008 , so that it had to be reforested. The network of paths is well developed and leads directly to the beach on the fjord. Furthermore, the forest is surrounded by agricultural areas.

Specialty

In the Oestergaard forest there is an old forester's house and a forest nature trail , in which the native fauna and flora of the forest is described on information boards. Recreational facilities are available, as is a forest car park. Every year there is a forest festival organized by the Steinberg community.
