Khai Long is an offshore wind farm under construction in Vietnam in the South China Sea . The wind farm is the country's first offshore wind farm and is located in the province of Cà Mau near the south-western coast of the sea ( nearshore park). It is divided into two phases. Both are planned by the Cong Ly company , which will later be the owner and operator. The project is funded by the Clean Energy Development Program .
Phase I.
In the first phase, 50 wind turbines from General Electric -Energy are currently being installed. These will have a total output of 100 MW . The park has been under construction since 2016 on a land and sea area of 21.65 km². The construction work should be completed by 2018.
Phase II
The second phase is currently (as of September 2016) in planning. An additional 200 MW are planned in this. Approximately 48 km² would be required for this expansion.
