Ojokojo "Otscho" Torunarigha (born March 10, 1970 in Lagos ) is a former Nigerian football player and current coach who was active in his career for Chemnitzer FC and Borussia Neunkirchen . Torunarigha was the first African professional in East Germany after the fall of the Berlin Wall .

career

Ojokojo Torunarigha started his career with the IICC Shooting Stars in Nigeria . After moving to CBS Libreville in Gabon , the attacking midfielder was hired by Chemnitzer FC in 1990 . Torunarigha was the first African professional in East German football after the fall of the Berlin Wall. The Nigerian was able to assert himself athletically in Chemnitz. After his career as a player, he also campaigned against racism in football stadiums.

On a sporting level, Torunarigha played his first competitive game under coach Hans Meyer in the 1: 3 defeat of the Himmelblauen in the first main round of the DFB Cup at Freiburg FC . Subsequently, the Nigerian was a permanent member of the Saxon club in the 2nd Bundesliga until 1994 , but was later sorted out under Meyer's successor Reinhard Häfner .

In the period that followed, Torunarigha played under-class at FC Sachsen Leipzig and Fortuna Chemnitz , but completed several missions for Borussia Neunkirchen in the Regionalliga Südwest . After his playful career, the Nigerian acted as a junior coach in Neunkirchen, after which he worked in the same position for Hertha BSC . He is currently training the youth of SFC Stern 1900 in Berlin.
