The Olšina (German Olschbach ) is a left tributary of the Moldau / Vltava in the Czech Republic . Its entire course leads in a southerly direction.

course

The Olšina rises two kilometers south of the Chlum ( Great Chumberg , 1191 m nm) on the Boletice military training area in the Bohemian Forest Foreland . Its source lies at the western foot of the U Kostela ( Andreasberg , 1010 m nm) in a swamp area between the desert areas of Ondřejov ( Andreasberg ) and Starý Ondřejov ( Alt Andreasberg ). On its upper course leading south past the deserted areas Vitěšovičtí Uhlíři ( Kriebaumkollern ) and Račín ( Ratschin ) the brook forms between the Kamenitý vrch ( Heinrichs Steinwand , 1039 m nm), Nad Myslivnou (1006 m nm) and the Kmet ( Altenberg , 997 m nm) a deep valley. Then the Olšina flows through the desert Jablonec ( Ogfolderhaid ). Your further course leads past the desert Bozdova Lhota ( Hundshaberstift ) and the settlement Otice ( Ottetstift ) at the western foot of the Závora (865 m nm) in several stream branches through a swampy and ever-widening valley. East of the U Riedla desert ( Riedelhütte ), the stream flows into the Olšina pond .

Between Olšina ( Langenbruck ) and Baštýřské Chalupy, the Olšina leaves the pond of the same name and, at the same time, the area of the military training area. The meandering lower course of the Olšina leads to Olšov ( Olschhof ), where the stream first flows into a small pond and then after twelve kilometers in the Lipno reservoir into the Vltava . On this section the railway line České Budějovice – Černý Kříž runs between the stops Hodňov and Žlábek on the left side of the Olšina and bridges the brook shortly before its mouth.

Until the Vltava was dammed in 1958, the lower course of the Olšina near Olšov initially continued south for a length of six kilometers and then passed Černá v Pošumaví in a south-westerly direction . The flooded valley today forms the Olšina bay of the Lipno reservoir. The original mouth of the Olšina in the Vltava was four kilometers southwest of today's. It was located southeast of Rybářské Domky ( fishermen's houses ); the old estuary is now a good kilometer southeast of the island of Tajvan on the bottom of the Vltava reservoir.
