Ola Svensson (born February 23, 1986 in Lund ), known as Ola , is a Swedish pop singer.

biography

Ola Svensson first aspired to a football career and at the age of 19 had made it into third-class Division 1 . Then he took part in the casting show Swedish Idol in 2005 , where he advanced to the finals. Although he only finished eighth there, he continued to pursue a singing career.

He got a recording deal and his debut single Rain became an instant number one hit in April 2006 . The following debut album Given to Fly also conquered the top of the Swedish charts.

In the following years he continued his success at a high level. In 2007 , the single Natalie was another chart leader , staying at number 1 for five weeks and in the top 4 for 11 weeks, and was awarded platinum for more than 20,000 units sold .

With the third number one hit SOS and Love in stereo , two gold singles followed and Feelgood even got double platinum.

In July 2009, Ola had his fourth number one hit with Sky's the Limit .

After he won the Swedish music show Körslaget with his choir from the city of Lund in 2009, he took part in the Swedish preliminary decision for the Eurovision song contest in 2010. With Unstoppable he was able to qualify for the finals of Melodifestivalen , where he finished seventh when Anna Bergendahl won. Unstoppable (The Return of Natalie) became his fifth number one hit on the charts .

In July 2012, Ola signed a deal with Sony Music for Europe. The first single that was distributed across Europe was I'm In Love .

In October 2012, I'm In Love was released internationally under Sony Music. The song hit the charts across Europe. The I'm In Love video has already received more than 19 million views on YouTube.

In August 2013 the single Maybe was released in Sweden , which made it to number 3 on the iTunes charts, and in October 2013 the single Tonight I'm Yours followed .

On January 15, 2014, Svensson released his fourth studio album Carelessly Yours in Sweden . It reached number 4 on the charts. Svensson worked on all songs as a songwriter and producer. The current single from the album is called Jackie Kennedy . In the video, Svensson can be seen disguised as a woman.

So far, Svensson has done five Swedish tours and one club tour across Europe. In total, he played in over 20 countries.

During the 2014 Olympic Games in Russia, Ola was invited to perform on the big stage in Sochi. He broke the rules of the organizer and took the opportunity to show his support for the LGBT community. In front of Russian politicians and an applauding audience, he spoke out in favor of free love: “I want to dedicate my last song for all of you who have to fight for your love.” (I want to dedicate my last song to all those who are for have to fight their love.)
