Olaf Scheuring

Olaf Scheuring (* 1953 in Kiel ; † October 2009 ) was a German author , director and actor .

Life

Olaf Scheuring completed his Abitur at the technical college for social education and social economy in Bremen, after which he worked for various independent theater groups. In 1976 Scheuring began studying the performing arts at the Berlin University of the Arts . Together with his partner, the Austrian actress Elfriede Irrall , he made her documentary It should have been about becoming free , in 1982 they both founded the theater , a stage without a permanent house. Scheuring held several positions here, as an author, dramaturge, director and actor, but also in the technical field. A large part of his work also took up theater work with children and young people.

Some of his directorial work were the European premiere of Ulf or the blue dream of the Argentine actor and playwright Juan Carlos Gené , the world premieres of Friederike Mayröcker's plays Lection and Farewells , Nur Kinder, Küche, Kirche by Franca Rame and Dario Fo and Federico García Lorca's drama Yerma .

Under the title And tell others of such happiness , he wrote Forward- Looking Memories together with Elfriede Irrall . After his death, Irrall published individual poems from Scheuring's pen in the volume unheard of life . On February 22nd, 2014 the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation broadcasted a program with poems from this book in its series Nachtbilder - Poetry and Music , read by the actor Michael Heltau .

Olaf Scheuring last lived with Elfriede Irrall in Berlin, Vienna and Lutzmannsburg . Due to an injury to his eyebrow, Scheuring contracted a fungal spore infection in autumn 2009, which led to blood poisoning, which he succumbed to at the end of October of the same year.
