Olban Francisco Valladares

Olban Francisco Valladares Ordoñez (born December 12, 1941 in Tegucigalpa , Honduras ) is a Honduran manager and politician of the Party for Innovation and Unity PINU ( Partido Innovación y Unidad ) , who ran for the office of President of Honduras several times without success .

Life

Valladares, son of Miguel Rafael Valladares and Francisca Ordonez, began studying at Los Angeles-Orange County State College in 1960 . After his return he worked as an insurance advisor and between 1968 and 1975 he was both Deputy Managing Director of the Hanover Insurance Company's local branch and Vice President of the American International Underwriters branch in Tegucigalpa. During this time he also completed a degree in economics at the National Autonomous University of Honduras (UNAH), from which he graduated in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc. Economics). After serving as Managing Director of the Hanover Insurance Company branch and President of the American International Underwriters branch between 1975 and 1978, he took over as President of the Tegucigalpa-based insurer Correduria International de Seguros in 1980 . He was also involved with Rotary International and served as Senate President of the Junior Chamber of Commerce between 1986 and 1987. He is also a member of the Honduran Cancer Society, of which he was Vice President between 1988 and 1989.

1990 Valladares was for the Social Democratic Party of Innovation and Unity PINU ( Partido Innovación y Unidad ) member of the National Congress (Congreso Nacional) , where he remained until 1994th In the elections of November 28, 1993 Valladares ran for the PINU for the office of president, with 48,471 votes after Carlos Roberto Reina of the Partido Liberal de Honduras PLH (906,793 votes) and José Oswaldo Ramos Soto of the Partido Nacional de Honduras PNH (735,123 votes) however only third place among the five candidates. In 1994 he became president of the Partido Innovación y Unidad. In the following presidential elections on November 30, 1997, after Carlos Roberto Flores Facussé from the PLH (1,040,403 votes) and Nora Gúnera de Melgar from the PNH (844,985 votes) with 41,605 votes, he was again only third among the five candidates. Also in the presidential elections on November 25, 2001, after Ricardo Maduro from the PNH (1,137,734 votes) and Rafael Pineda Ponce from the PLH (964,590 votes) with 31,666 votes, he again only achieved third place among the five candidates. In the presidential election on November 27, 2005, he did not run again, whereupon the PINU candidate Carlos Sosa Coello was only last of five candidates with 18,764 votes.

Valladares, who is also President of the Rio Platano Biosphere Protection Foundation , married Emma Judith Mansilla on June 19, 1971. From this marriage there were three children.
