Old Fort is an unincorporated area in northern Pleasant Township in Seneca County in the American state of Ohio . Although it is free of parishes, it has a post office with the zip code of 44861.

history

Old Fort was founded in 1882 under the name Old Fort Seneca after the construction of the New York, Chicago and St. Louis Railroad (also known as the Nickel Plate) . The name came from nearby Fort Seneca, which was built during the War of 1812 . Later both the station and the location were renamed Old Fort to avoid confusion with Fort Seneca . The Old Fort railroad depot was closed in 1962 and demolished in 1970.
